Farmer Mary takes in alot of unwanted bunnies and guinea pigs when people get tired of them or leave for college or find they are allergic. The animals then live at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC where they are held and fed treats by our farm visitors.
They might be selected to be part of the Mobile Petting Zoo and attend a home Birthday party or other away event on occasion.
Farmer Mary rents guinea pigs and bunnies to families, classrooms, preschools and individuals. Those usually come back to the farm and the person who rented exclaims about how much they poop!
On very rare occasions a rental leads to an adoption and an animal truly becomes part of the family. C.C., the guinea pig pictured here, is definitely a loved family member deep in the heart of a local family. Read more about Pet Rental at www.winterpast.org.
