FROG EGGS AT WINTERPAST

Frog eggs found today in a waterlily pot by the pond at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. The egg mass is called “spawn. It looks like it might be two different types here.

In 6-21 days the fertilized eggs will hatch into tadpoles.

7-10 days later they will be swimming around eating algae.

In 6-9 weeks legs begin to sprout and by about 12 weeks the “froglet” will look like a little frog with a very long tail.

In 12-16 weeks the “frog” will have completed its life cycle and be ready to lay eggs.

Farmer Mary will try to get photos of each stage to share.
