TRACTOR SUPPLY

A friend with a trailer picked up a load of much needed animal feed and some strong “cattle panels” that Farmer Mary will use to make a curved roof on many of the larger animal pens at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC.

The heavy snow imploded several pens last winter and the various designs for supporting tarps all eventually sagged and broke due to heavy rain or snow accumulation. Farmer Mary tried two curved roofs last year and they were very successful.

These days Farmer Mary is thinking about all the baby goats and lambs coming soon. She likes to have a maternity pen set up for each mother and her babies for their first few weeks. She worked on curved roofs today and will be tarping and setting up heat lamps and supplies in each pen over the next few days. Any donations of any size tarps are always very helpful!

Some farm visitors assume the apples and carrots they bring along to feed the animals are all the feed the animals need. Last week Farmer Mary paid $240 for delivery of four large round bales of hay that should last the donkeys, goats, sheep and pigs for a few months. (That’s 24 farm visits.) Farmer Mary weekly spends about $200 at Tractor Supply for feed and supplies. (That’s 20 farm visits or 5 bunny rentals.)

Today’s bill equals nearly 80 farm visit admissions! Farmer Mary hopes to see YOU soon! Thank you for supporting a small local farm family. BTW: Winterpast Farm has a AMAZON Wish List.
