Lots of girls gathered to help celebrate a Birthday at Winterpast Farm today. many parents who planned to drop off their daughters stayed.
The Birthday family brought lots of food for the animals and guests emptied their cupboards and frig to bing along more. Food went into green buckets the girls carried around to feed the wide variety of animals.
Lots of visitors met HENRIETTA, a chicken who is currently vacationing at Winterpast Farm.
We took a pasture walk and LIZZIE LOU, the goat, led the way.
Group shot on the “Lizard Log”
After we left the back forest, we came out onto the pasture and hung out with LUCKY, the llama, a while.
Girls enjoyed the big Black Tubes.
Only delicious, homemade, cupcakes could draw them away from the fun they had rolling down the back pasture hill.

Farmer Mary helped celebrate a Birthday this afternoon at Winterpast Farm.
Visitors had a chance to meet and feed new baby guinea pigs.
The Donut Game was a big hit and the chickens gathered to peck up crumbs.
Lizzie Lou, the very pregnant goat, led the pasture walk.
Party guests enjoyed feeling her big tummy and guessing how many babies she will have. did you know baby goats are called “kids”?
Farmer Mary took everyone for a walk in the forest and some of the kids walked with Emily the emu!
We paused for a group picture at The Lizard Lounge.
Down a hill then up another, we stopped a while to pull apart some old dead trees and found bugs!
Then it was time to roll up and down the hills in the big Black Tubes!
The only thing that could tear young visitors away from the Black Tubes was the promise of cake!! The Birthday Mom made an incredible red barn cake and chick, piglet, and lamb cupcakes.
It was a perfect late afternoon to be outdoor celebrating with friends and family.
The chickens were confused by the green coconut it ate it right up,
Birthday Parties at Winterpast Farm are memorable and are for all ages. Contact Farmer Mary if you want to plan a Birthday or other event at the farm.
Did you know you can rent a pet from Winterpast Farm? For $35 you get the animal, cage, feed and everything you need for a week. Farmer Mary mostly rents guinea pigs and bunnies. She has also rented baby goat on a bottle to a girls slumber birthday party, a variety of farm animals to a country style event, a piglet to a family who was considering buying a pig (that family learned alot, had fun, and did not buy a pig pet!) She has rented a goat to be jokingly exchanged for a bride at a wedding, a baby goat, ducklings, chicks, a hen…just ask! Families and individuals rent for a wide variety of reasons:
Considering adding a furry friend to your household? Rent first and try it out instead of buying!
Dad out of town on a business trip? Miss him a bit less with a new furry friend to take care of.
Grandkids coming for a weekend or for a holiday? Rent a nice bunny and be their very favorite Grandparent!!
Stepkids coming for a stay? Rent a pet to help ease the transition.
Homeschool family studying animals…check with Farmer Mary and rent something interesting to watch develop!
TEMPORARY CLASSROOM PET option works like this. You rent a pet and then ask your child’s classroom teacher if s/he would like a temporary classroom pet; it might be one day, two..or all week. Meanwhile the child is “king of the classroom”, the parents who provided the animal are considered great, and the entire class enjoys a temporary furry or feathered friend. And, the family probably learns they don’t need to buy a pet..why buy when you can take it back to Winterpast Farm and, later on, rent something else?
This rental all helps pay to feed and house all the many many former pets who now live at Winterpast Farm.
Even if you don’t rent a pet, pass on the news to friends and let’s help recycle existing pets instead of creating more!
Here, a teacher from The Fransiscan School Preschool, shares a bunny with students.
While at The Fransiscan School Preschool yesterday Farmer Mary promised the “Mighty Ducks” class (whose turn it was not to see the animals) that she would bring a duck the next day that they could meet.
The children had fun watching Farmer Mary let the big black duck free of its traveling cage and watching it Elmore the fenced playground. The duck had lovely wings with blue and purple appearing in the sunlight.
Here some of the children played “walk like a duck”.
Children interacted with bunnies and guinea pigs and helped “walk” JESSE the baby goat.
Farmer Mary gave enough Petting Zoo business cards to each teacher to send home with the students. She hopes everyone will come visit the farm soon! See the tab at the top of the Winterpast.org website front page entitled “your visit!”. This has information on parking, admission, food to bring to feed the animals, how to set up a visit and more!
Farmer Mary spent the morning with preschoolers at The Franciscan School at the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi.
Groups of students and their teachers joined Farmer Mary and her animals in a fenced playground.
After meeting and petting baby goat JESSE, some children enjoyed walking him on a leash.
Teachers and Farmer Mary took turns holding bunnies and guinea pigs for children to pet.
Tomorrow morning Farmer Mary will be back at the school again to meet other classes.
