Please SHARE with friends! Winterpast Farm mobile petting zoo will be donating their time at this event. Imagine not having any diapers when you really need them! Come meet BETSY the baby goat and other sweet animals. Come for a free bunny snuggle there! Bring your camera and get a great Halloween photo of your child in costume with an animal! Hopefully the rain will be long gone and we will have a baby goat to walk on a leash, some of our fancy chickens, all sizes and colors of bunnies and lots more!Farmer Mary is also collecting diapers at the farm. She is SO GLAD her own four children are past that stage! Please donate and Please SHARE with friends who might like to donate either at the farm (just leave them in the barn) or bring them to the event.
Learn MoreWinterpast Farm can always use:
—Empty gallon jugs (those that held ice tea or water are best as ones that held milk can get stinky unless cleaned well after emptying) to be used for carrying water to cages
—Newspapers! We can only use the absorbent newsprint pages, not the shiny ads, (used for lining cages and for pet rentals)
—old towels, any size (used for birthing and to cover small cages so birds who roost on top won’t poop in the cage below
—any size fleece blankets (this is a current sale at a local Walmart).
—bags of dry raked up leaves to use as bedding
—bags of grass clippings (if not from a chemically treated lawn) to be used as bedding and nesting
—any size pillowcases, esp flannel (used for lining guinea pig cages)
—old fleece coats, kids footie PJs…Farmer Mary uses the sleeves and legs to make “goat coats” for the baby goats and lambs. Dog coats and sweaters are also useful.
—leftover bits of lumber, plywood, wire…
—dog/pet carriers, crates, fencing, pens, food (wet or dry, cat or dog)dog coats (for goats!) dog bowels-any size bowl for feeding and watering. Old pots are great too!

Farmer Mary has been preparing for the big rain…food and water to all the animals, triple tarps on some outdoor pens, 8 cages of bunnies and guinea pigs brought inside, several bunnies who were on the ground in pens moved to cages off the ground…guinea pogs are all snuggled into fleece sleep sacks recently donated by a home school group which volunteers regularly at Winterpast Farm.
Daughter Elizabeth had to practice her Colorguard routine inside tonight…no high tosses! Last Saturdays marching band competition ended up being hosted indoors…looks like this Saturday will be the same.
A rescheduled bonfire (cancelled for rain last month!) is rained out again this Friday night! The International Festival at The Montessori School of Raleigh has been postponed from this Saturday. The special “Turtle Day” (with visiting trurtles from A Traveling Tortoise) rescheduled (for rain!) from last month to this Sunday, will have to be rescheduled again! Rain rain go away!!
Hope all you friends of Winterpast Farm are warm and dry!
