Farmer Mary at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC attempted a living heart today with fair success. DAISY the polka dotted pig interrupted the first attempt and DORIS the goose hogged the oatmeal, but ducks, a turkey, chickens and guineas got the general idea. DORIS the goose at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC enjoying some hot water that Farmer Mary has been busy bringing out to all the animals. Frozen waterbowls this morning, but only a light dusting of snow and a bit of sleet. Very thankful to be living this far south! Thanks to everyone who donates their empty gallon jugs (especially water, juice or tea which aren’t as stinky as milk jugs!)
Did you know an egg can freeze? Farmer Mary tries to gather her chickens eggs all day long so none are left outdoors overnight during the winter. Occasionally she misses one! Different chickens lay their eggs at different times all day long, not just in the morning.
Light snow here and icy rain is on the way this morning at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. Farmer Mary is happy to let her high school age teens sleep in this morning. Hope everyone is safe and warm today.

Farmer Mary of Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC makes these clay ornaments to sell at the farm. $5 helps feed all the former pets who now live at Winterpast Farm. Some visitors buy one each time they visit. Some have been made into wind chimes. Some parents buy them for birthday guests. Some visitors buy the BARNEY dachsund or DAISY pig or a bunny because that’s their favorite animal to visit here. One friend of the farm buys goat shapes and hangs them around bottles of wine she gives ( along with one of our business cards) to help promote the farm. Each ornament is stamped “winterpast farm” on the back and some even have individual animal names like DORIS the goose.
Different shapes and sizes all the time as Farmer Mary is always trying out new clays and new glazes and patterns. Come see for yourself soon! Thank you for supporting a small local farm family.
