Father/Son dinnertime at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. BA BA the black sheep on left is a Shetland who was donated to Winterpast Farm three years ago when he was a baby. Farmer Mary bottle fed him and he still loves to walk on a leash and be her sheep-dog. He was born at a fiber farm and was, they said, “the wrong color”. We think he is perfect just the way God made him.
His son, MARTIN LUTHER, on the right, was born at Winterpast Farm on Martin Luther Kings Day two years ago. It is hard to see in this photo but he has double horns. His mom is ALBERTA who is a Jacob breed sheep and they can have up to six horns. She moved to Winterpast Farm after the rest of her flock was killed by coyotes at a nearby farm one night and the farmer lost interest in sheep.
Tonight all the pastured animals are in Farmer Mary’s side and back yard eating down the overgrown weeds for dinner.

Good morning from some of the sheep at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. GERMANY, the brown sheep on the right, was donated to Winterpast Farm after most of her flock at a nearby farm was killed overnight by coyotes and the farmer’s freezer was full. Her daughter CINDY LOU was born March 6 this year. Both are full Shetland sheep who have their fleece sheared in the Spring. Both will probably have babies next year between January and March.
Come meet and feed a nice sheep at Winterpast Farm. They love to eat kale, apple slices, carrots and more from farm visitors hands.

STELLA the mini horse was rescued originally from a hoarding situation. She and other small horses were confined to a stall. When she arrived at Winterpast Farm she had to learn how to accept human touch and to take food treats from farm visitors. She has come a long long way. She is still food insecure and a bit pushy when she is with all the other animals eating from visitors hands at the fenceline but she will eventually realize there is enough food for everyone.
