Farmer Mary is alwayshappy to help her farm visitors grow confident about feeding all the different animals at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Almost all visitors end up bravely feeding the chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, peacocks, donkeys, pigs and mini horse and most try feeding our emu. Farmer Mary will show you the best way to feed each animal.
All the animals are very nice at Winterpast Farm. If you are the first visitors of the day don’t be too surprised when the chickens and ducks all come running up to see what is in your blue bucket of feed. The nursing mom sheep, who right now are in the front yard with their sweet baby lambs, might surround you and THOMAS the male turkey might stretch to see inside your bucket what treats you brought along but all the animals are very sweet and would safely eat a cheerio from your hand. You can also hold and brush and pet animals at Winterpast Farm. Right now our two week old baby goats, VIOLET and THOMAS, are very popular for snuggling!

BETSY is hanging out with her super fluffy bottomed Silkie rooster friend today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. BETSY is recuperating from an emergency C-Section on Sunday so will be penned up a few weeks while she heals from major surgery. The Silkie rooster loves to eat BETSY’s goat food.

Farmer Mary is always happy to give a broody hen a job to do at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC! This hen has been lazing away her days lately keeping three golf balls warm! Farmer Mary puts a few golf balls wherever she wants to encourage chickens to lay their eggs. They feel the golf ball and assume they are eggs and think if other chickens are laying there it must be a nice safe place.
Today Farmer Mary replaced the golf balls with 14 Crested Polish eggs gathered from her new pen of a Crested Polish rooster and his three Crested Polish ladies. They are all beautifully colored and Farmer Mary hopes to post pics of the darling chicks (who will have big pompoms on their heads!) in 21 days!

Closing time today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Farmer Mary let all the sheep mamas and baby lambs and mama goat FRANCES and her twin baby goats out to play a while. The sheep mamas did NOT like their lambs playing with the baby goats!
