Mini donkeys MABEL and CLAIRE are hanging out in the barn with sheep and goats and chickens on this rainy rainy day at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC.
MABEL and CLAIRE were donated to Winterpast Farm about five years ago when a 4-H program closed. They enjoy going to local Live Nativities at Christmas and enjoy eating apple slices and carrots from farm visitors hands.
The recent rain has brought great shade to the petting zoo and the back pasture is finally starting to grow green. The pond is filling up. Farmer Mary will be outside in the rain today weeding and then planting around the pond. If anyone has sun loving perennial plants to share, we can use them!

Raining steadily at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Farm will be closed to visits unless rain ends. Sitting on a wet bench holding a wet bunny is not as much fun as visiting Winterpast Farm on a dry day! It is not good for bunnies or baby chicks to get wet. STELLA the mini horse waited very patiently for her turn for food treats at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Carrots and celery, apples and even kale sometimes become irresistible to young farm visitors who start to nibble on the animal feed in their blue bucket.
