Farmer Mary was gathering eggs in the rain this morning at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. She found what looks like a double yolk duck egg (huge white one) and a double yolk chicken egg (biggest green one).

This morning the three eggs under the white peahen hatched. The dark peachick hatched first and jumped out of the nest (or was pushed?) and came right under Farmer Mary’s bedroom window where it peeped so loudly Farmer Mary came outside (on a rainy day) to investigate. When she found the other two white ines newly hatched she took them to raise indoors. Baby peachicks simply do not survive well on the ground with their mom. A fancy Silkie breed couple of chickens has moved to Winterpast Farm. BLUE, the big dark male rooster, and his lovely wife DAISY, are in a separate pen while they get used to living at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC.
