This is PUDDLES the red eared slider turtle who was donated recently to Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. When you come on a farm visit you can usually spy PUDDLES basking on a log or swimming in the pond that Farmer Mary upcycled from an inground pool. Bring along some plain cheerios or romaine lettuce or a sloce or two of whole wheat bread to catapult into the pond to watch the fish and turtles eat.

Hard to believe that the Farmer’s Daughter heads off to a two year “Scholars With Diverse Abilities” college program at Appalachian State University in Boone in just a few weeks!
When Farmer Mary adopted Elizabeth at age 7 from Russia the orphanage said she would never count past three. Farmer Mary replied that Svetlana (Elizabeth’s Russian name and now her middle name) would still be better off counting to three at her farm in a real family. Look how far she’s come!
Farmer Mary will be posting her campus address soon and is sure Elizabeth would appreciate some mail and drawings from her farm fans.

These two former pet bunnies named DUSTY and RUSTY are having a fun week vacation from Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo and are living in a local family home as part of Farmer Mary’s unique Pet Rental program! Here they are enjoying some time outdoors in a folding pen that Farmer Mary has available to rentors.
Help Farmer Mary recycle existing pets instead of just buying more! “Rent for a week and get over it” says Farmer Mary and most renters DO get over the idea of owning a small pet in a cage once they spend a week caring for an animal.
