This is inside Farmer Mary’s incubator right now at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. The tiny speckled eggs are quail and they have just a few more days to hatch or Farmer Mary will assume they won’t.
The incubator went crazy lately and turned off and the egg turner went on and on and on and a few quail eggs got squished and/or chilled. The others are chicken and duck eggs that Farmer Mary rescued from nests after the mama chicken or duck hatched a few eggs and then had to follow her babies leaving more possibly very close to hatching eggs behind.
One chicken egg hatched this morning and the duck eggs in the far left two rows were just collected today so Farmer Mary will give them a few days be fore deciding they are duds. She will also try to “candle” the eggs tonight. That means with a very bright light she can see inside the eggs and look for movement and growth.
