More turkeys hatched today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Baby turkeys are called “poults”. Farmer Mary keeps getting surprised by the variety of breeds-this looks like a Blue Slate and two Bourbon Reds. The eggs were all purchased from a breeder and supposed to be Blue Slate. Good thing we love variety here at Winterpast Farm! Just a few more eggs to go…

Turkey eggs started to hatch yesterday at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC! Visitors enjoyed listening to the babies pecking inside the egg on their way out. By late afternoon one family heard a baby peeping loudly inside the egg.
Farmer Mary moved the turkey who was setting under the barn sink to a large pen. The other turkey (her sister) was moved too, but she sneaked right back out and Farmer Mary found her setting in the dog house where she has been for the past few weeks so her eggs were returned there, for now.🥚🥚🥚
Stay tuned for some baby pics! These eggs were purchased from a breeder and should be Blue Slate which is a blue gray color. Photo shows at least one is NOT a Blue Slate. Farmer Mary thinks the darker one is a Black Spanish#getoutside

🌧Winterpast Farm is going to be closed today for rain-It is always so hard for Farmer Mary to make the call to close the farm for visits but it looks like more rain is definitely on the way and its alot of work to dry off everything from the rain this morning and to set up to open for visits only to have to close suddenly.
