Farmer Mary enjoyed meeting new visitors and had lots of regulars at Winterpast Farm today.
A group of Indian Princesses and their Dads came to do some work (moving pallets, raking hay, digging in the garden, helping unload a big roll of hay), then they had plenty of time for feeding, holding and petting animals.
Farmer Mary has endless ideas for service projects, community service and other volunteer opportunities at the farm.
DAVID, the baby lamb, got alot of snuggles and several farm visitors had the chance to bottle feed him today.
Baby bunnies and baby goats enjoyed being held and fed.
Some visitors helped gather eggs, then helped arrange them in cartons for selling. Farmer Mary helped them think about arranging them in attractive patterns (alternating green/blue with brown or rows of dark speckled interspersed with white and green..lots of fun color combinations to try)
When you visit eggs are available for $5 per dozen. If you know ahead of time that you want to buy eggs, let Farmer Mary know and she will wait to collect the day’s eggs with you and you can pick exactly which to take home!
THOMAS the turkey was strutting around trying to impress the lady turkeys. It is the season of love for turkeys and several visitors caught him doing his awkward love dance today. Sometimes he circles around the lady turkeys and they circle around him with their tail feathers up. Come see for yourself!
