The mature males, JUSTIN and JOSEPH, have been displaying their long tsils the past few days. The males molt the long “eye” feathers every year in late summer and have just now regrown them and boy do they like everyone to see! The molted feathers are for sale for $5 each which is the peacocks contribution to Winterpast Farm.
This great photo was taken by a visitor just a few days ago.
Meanwhile, the baby peacocks born last June are growing fast. Farmer Mary can tell that one is a male (seen here closer to you in the photo).
The babies are nearly as big as their Mom at only 7 months old.
The peacocks will eat cereal, dry oatmeal, raisins, grapes and other food out of your hands. One recent visitor managed to pick up the female baby peacock for this great photo.
