Farmer Mary is always happy to give a broody hen a job to do at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC! This hen has been lazing away her days lately keeping three golf balls warm! Farmer Mary puts a few golf balls wherever she wants to encourage chickens to lay their eggs. They feel the golf ball and assume they are eggs and think if other chickens are laying there it must be a nice safe place.
Today Farmer Mary replaced the golf balls with 14 Crested Polish eggs gathered from her new pen of a Crested Polish rooster and his three Crested Polish ladies. They are all beautifully colored and Farmer Mary hopes to post pics of the darling chicks (who will have big pompoms on their heads!) in 21 days!
