Considering the cost of gas for a zoo trip, and considering how incredibly up close and personal you can get with animals at Winterpast, Farmer Mary is perplexed by the number of visitors who visit and don’t pay.
Here are a few things your nominal admission price goes to:
Sheep are being sheared this Monday and that cost is $20 per sheep. Their hot winter coat has to be taken off and Farmer Mary seriously shopped around for a great deal on the shearing.
The baby milk for bottle feeding goat babies, baby lambs, baby piglets and more is $25 for a bag that feeds One animal for a few days. most bottle feeding of runts and newborns goes on for months.
Feed for the pony, sheep, ducks etc goes up annually (if not more often!) and Farmer Mary pays about $12 to $15 per bag. There is also hay and occasional medical expenses for the livestock.
The care and feeding and clothing and entertaining of four teens, plus their summer foster child from BelArus is another expense that Farmer Mary pays for With the income from farm visits, birthday parties and keeping dogs, renting kayaks, bonfires and camp outs.
In order to keep admission very very low, Farmer Mary asks that you bring for for feeding the animals. This can include carrots, apples, bread, cereal, outdated and stale almost anything…it can be a great time to clear your frig and pantry. the more food you bring, the more you and your family and friends will enjoy your visit to Winterpast Farm.
Please tell your friends to visit the farm and please remind them to pay. Where else can you kiss a piglet, bottle feed a lamb, stroll with a llama, see ad hold an emu egg, have Justin Beiber (the peacock) eating out of your hand, see a chicken on her nest, rent a bunny. And more…..????
