Who else is going to miss the Farmers Daughter 👩🌾at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC when she leaves tomorrow to finish her second year of the Scholars With Diverse Abilities program at Appalachian State University??
Farmer Mary will be posting the campus address 📬for Elizabeth soon so that she will find some mail when she checks her mail box and her phone 📞number so if you are heading to the mountains ⛰maybe you can make plans to stop by campus and see her (and please send Farmer Mary a photo!)
❤️Many many years ago when Farmer Mary hosted 6 year old Elizabeth (then named Svetlana) for a summer “Give a Russian Orphan a Vacation” program she had NO IDEA that she would eventually adopt Elizabeth and her brother Alex. After selling her car and saving all her money Farmer Mary was able to adopt both of them and bring them home to live at Winterpast Farm at age 7. They are now 22!
Elizabeth has worked fulltime at the farm since graduating from Millbrook High School and she has been running her own business called Elizabeth’s Helping Hands which includes work babysitting, pet sitting, yard work and organizing.
The same girl the Russian orphanage said would “never count past three”! Funny how a lack of health insurance leads to not labeling her anything other than “Elizabeth”!
Farmer Mary rarely gives herself a pat on the back but she is so proud of her daughter Elizabeth and has such high hopes for her future!
Note that the Wake County Public School System NEVER once mentioned this college program to Farmer Mary. A friend saw it on TV and and brought it to Farmer Mary’s attention. (Thank you Susan!) Tomorrow Farmer Mary will be heading to Boone with Elizabeth and older brother Ben to settle her into her dorm room! This year she goes early for Marching Band Camp as she was chosen to be on the Colorguard Team for a second Year. Last year they got to go to New Orleans for a Bowl Game!
