Winterpast Farm has hosted pre-schools, Scout goups, Mom groups, Homeschooler groups and public school groups. One time we had 150 second graders here! Farmer Mary hired a few farmer and a forestor friend to help that time! There is plenty of parking and school buses can get in and out easily.
2017 The animals of Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo drew record crowds tonight (Dec 23) at the second night of Live Nativity at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh. ❓What is forest bathing❓
In 1982, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries created the term shinrin-yoku, which translates to “forest bathing” or “absorbing the forest atmosphere.” The practice encourages people to simply spend time in nature — no actual bathing required. The goal of forest bathing is to live in the present moment while immersing your senses in the sights and sounds of a natural setting.
🌲🌲Take a slow meander in nature at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Walk with the Farmers Daughter into the back pasture and forest along with goats, sheep, emu and CLAIRE donkey. Slow down and relax. Hug a tree 🌲. Roam Farmer Mary’s ten fenced acres. 🌳Find joy in the land.
Health Benefits: Forest bathing has been found to lower blood pressure, heart rate, and levels of harmful hormones — like cortisol, which your body produces when it’s stressed.This can help put you in a more calm and relaxed state.
🌳☀️🌲Studies have found that spending 10 to 20 minutes a day outdoors can lead to increased well-being and happiness and decreased amounts of stress.🥰😄🤓
🌲🌲Once you have arrived in the forest, take a few deep breaths and center yourself. Focus on what your senses are taking in.
🌳Spend a few moments simply observing your surroundings. Sit and watch how the trees sway in the wind or simply walk around. If you decide to walk, go at a leisurely pace and without a specific destination in mind. It’s important to let your mind and senses explore and indulge. The goal of forest bathing is to relax and detach from your normal every day life.
Make your wellbeing a priority ‼️
This is not exercise, or hiking, or jogging. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Shinrin-yoku is like a bridge. By opening our senses, it bridges the gap between us and nature🌲🌳☀️

🐓🦆Feeding the birds at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest Nc. The cost of chicken feed continues to rise steadily and Farmer Mary is increasing her price for eggs which are in very high demand.
New price: $10 for 18 eggs. Someone donated cartons that hold 18 eggs. With warmer weather the chickens are laying more eggs and in spring duck eggs will be available.
Paid farm visit not required for egg purchase. Text Farmer Mary at 919-244-1800 and she will leave eggs at the farm entrance for you to pickup and you can pay in the box at the gate. A few days notice helps especially on days the farm is open since farm visitors often like to buy the eggs they help collect🥚🥚.

🦮The first chapter of our new venture “Elizabeth’s Goldens of Winterpast” has closed as CHARLOTTE moved to her new family today.
🦴We learned alot since CHARLOTTE was born to PUMPKIN PIE on Nov 29. She left Winterpast Farm today potty trained, crate trained, dog door trained ,trained to come to her name, vaccinated, up to date with worming, microchipped and above all very loved and socialized with interactions with a huge variety of other dogs of all sizes and humans of all ages, nationalities and genders.
👍🏽We feel that our socialization process will lead to a very successful transition to her new home. We are happy she is settled very close by and hope to see her often.
🐶We are looking forward to Chapter 2 with Goldendoodle LIZZIE LOU expecting puppies in March with HENRY our English Cream Golden Retriever. Which parent will they look like?
👍🏽Text Farmer Mary the word PUPPIES at 919-244-1800 and you will be on THE list for any breaking puppy news. Volunteer opportunities will include: puppy snuggling, socialization, and early training.
Students can earn Community Service hours #withpuppies. 🐶🐶We also plan on having our puppies available to visit special needs classrooms, nursing homes, offices (Friday Fun Day?) and to host events at the farm similar to “Wine and Design” but no need to be crafty(!), just bring friends and drink wine and snuggle a puppy!🍷 🐶

🪵🪜We plan to build a rustic dog agility course at Winterpast Farm and to offer classes in agility. We hosted B.Y.O.B.&D. (bring your own beer and dog) events prior to Covid and may start that back up. Interested❓
🦮Farmer Mary has started a “Take A Dog Along” Program where you can schedule to pick up a dog from Winterpast Farm to run with. PUMPKIN PIE has been a favorite and she rides well in cars and loves to run. Text Farmer Mary the next time you want to take a run or go for a walk with a nice dog.
Farmer Mary wasn’t allowed to have a dog as a child. Her Mother told her to wait til she got older and she could have as many animals as she liked🙂.
2023 will bring many changes and new adventures at Winterpast Farm. Farmer Mary hopes you will be there.

The peacocks tend to hangnout on the roof of Farmer Mary’s house and they will come to the lowest corner to eat nicely out of your hands. 🐖Winterpast Farm will be OPEN SATURDAY 10-5 for visits. It is very muddy here so wear boots and don’t complain or just don’t visit this time of year.
