Winterpast Farm has hosted pre-schools, Scout goups, Mom groups, Homeschooler groups and public school groups. One time we had 150 second graders here! Farmer Mary hired a few farmer and a forestor friend to help that time! There is plenty of parking and school buses can get in and out easily.
2017 The animals of Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo drew record crowds tonight (Dec 23) at the second night of Live Nativity at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh. Despite the cold we had steady flow of farm visitors at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo this Martin Luther King Day. ❄️Most of the snow has melted and the small animals especially enjoyed being outside in then sunshine.☀️

The emu like to sleep outside no matter what the weather is like at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. There is plenty of space for all the animals in the barn and under tarps. The emu has many layers of unique double feathers insulating them from the cold.

Sweet ROSIE the mew Great Dane puppy looked like a hired bodyguard today for old MAX who snuggled in the Farmers Daughters coat today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo. ROSIE will turn 1 on Feb 3.

Farmer Mary was very surprised to find a secret turkey nest today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Her current turkey female is a cross between Royal Palm and Blue Slate who hatched here this past spring.
🦃🥚Turkeys very rarely lay eggs in winter and now Farmer Mary has to decide whether to let the turkey keep laying eggs and hopefully set on them but when they hatch what if it is serious cold??? Severe cold could easily kill the “poults” especially with an inexperienced Mother. Or, take the eggs and incubate them but then Farmer Mary will have to be their Mother for many months and keep them warm. Waiting to see if more eggs come. Farmer Mary added more hay to the nest to keep the eggs from freezing and will probably take the eggs indoors on upcoming seriously freezing cold nights.
