All the pregnant sheep gathered today outside ALBERTA’s maternity pen today to meet EMMA the new baby lamb. Soon these ladies will be in maternity pens of their own at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC.
Today farm visitors were allowed to sit and hold sweet three day old EMMA. Mama ALBERTA demanded a food treat in exchange. She particularly loves greens like kale and romaine and cabbage, apple slices, sliced carrots, and grapes. Food treats help her make milk to feed EMMA and keep her occupied while visitors snuggle her sweet baby lamb.

THANK YOU!!!!! to “friend of the farm” Pam M. for these items from the Amazon Wish List for Winterpast Farm Petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. Colostrum is always good to have on hand for emergencies and the fancy guinea pig beds will provide great sleeping space for some of the former pet guinea pigs now living at Winterpast Farm. The special rabbit food for babies will be saved for next time someone donates a pregnant bunny-it happens again and again!
Farmer Mary and her daughter , Elizabeth, just moved all the bunnies and guinea pigs into the new heated garage space since weather looks very cold for the next few nights. The animals will be outside again for holding and feeding by our farm visitors during the day when it is above freezing but will be cozy and warm on these next few freezing nights.
