A pure white dove suddenly appeared today at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Farmer Mary provided water and food and the dove seems very happy to hang out by the pond.

Big Thanks to this great family who was in town from Philadelphia visiting family. They came for a farm visit then immediately made plans to volunteer here just a few days later! They were a huge help and then had a chance to hold a few of the animals who they had fed and watered. Farmer Mary hopes they will be back again soon as visitors or volunteers during their next local visit!

Farmer Mary’s all white male peacock has molted his long tail feathers and he can fly much more easily now. In the evening the peacocks usually hanging out by the entrance of Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC.
The peacocks will eat out of your hands. Bring along romaine lettuce or kale, plain Cheerios, whole corn, dry oatmeal and grapes to feed the peacocks next time you schedule a farm visit to Winterpast Farm.

Meet all the current dogs at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC!
When Farmer Mary was a child her Mother said she could have all the dogs she wanted when she got older. Well, she’s older now!
From left: HENRY (the cutest) English Cream Golden Retriever arrived at 11 weeks old and will turn 2 on October 11. HENRY was a pet the original owners were highly allergic to.
In the Farmers Daughters arms is MAX who flagged down Farmer Mary’s Mobile Petting Zoo van from the middle of a busy road about 3 years ago and when Farmer Mary found his owners they didn’t want him back. MAX very happily became part of the farm family but mostly loves his girl Elizabeth. When the Farmers Daughter went off to AppState last fall MAX moped a while but he gets plenty of love from farm visitors of all ages.
In Farmer Mary’s arms is mini Dachshund SWEETIE who moved to the zoo about 3 years ago when her owners didn’t have time for her. SWEETIE’s eyes are clouding now and she only occasionally comes down the ramp from Farmer Mary’s bedroom to interact with farm visitors. SWEETIE didn’t quite fill the hole left by Farmer Mary’s beloved 18 year old Dachshund BARNEY ❤️who is buried on Blueberry Hill just past the pond at Winterpast Farm.
CHARLIE the Border Collie mix farm dog partially hidden by the flowering pasture came from Wake County Animal Shelter about 8 years ago. He and HENRY are great pals and CHARLIE is slowly passing the baton of Mouse Patrol and NIght Patrol to HENRY. CHARLIE truly excels at Snake Elimination and has been well loved by our farm visitors for many years.

OREO BROWN the former pet Fuzzy Lop eared bunny met JACKSON the Golden Retriever tonight during Farmer Mary’s BYOB&D (dog) event at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC.
