Kale is the most popular food that visitors bring to feed the animals at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo in Wake Forest NC. Long stemmed kale can be held out for chickens and peacocks and ducks to nip at. Some of the chickens will jump to get a bite of kale. The emu like kale. The sheep and goats like kale. The bunnies and Guinea pigs like kale. The donkeys like kale. The pigs are NOT kale fans. They prefer celery or green beans or carrots and apple slices.
You can read more about what types of food the animals like to eat at “your visit” at www.winterpast.org.
Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo has an Amazon Wish List if you want to help Farmer Mary feed all the animals. Timothy hay is the most needed. Thank you for supporting a small local farm family.
