EMU EGG UPDATE

Farmer Mary decided to bring the emu eggs inside tonight during the extreme cold so they won’t freeze. These buckets are from two separate nests-one with 4 and one with 2 eggs. The third nest had a freshly laid egg late this afternoon bringing the total up to 9 eggs and making it the most active nest. When Farmer Mary went to get the eggs one of the emu was at that nest so Farmer Mary didn’t want to annoy him or her by just removing the eggs. She added some pinestraw over those eggs to help insulate them. Meanwhile the buckets of eggs are in the new heated garage space and are available for purchase and for farm visitors to hold for photos. Farmer Mary has scheduled several pasture walks each day to take farm visitors on a walk to see the emu eggs in the nests. This is a once a year opportunity. Be on time if you want to come along! If you can get here we will be here! Text Farmer Mary if you plan to visit.  Winterpast Farm Schedule: OPEN Sat Jan 7 from 10-5 (emu nest tour at 11:30, 1:30, 4:00).  OPEN Sun Jan 8 from 12-5 (emu nest tour at 1:30, 4:00) OPEN Mon Jan 9 from 10-5.
