DAISY the polka dotted pig ( who outgrew her former home) was very curious about the emu eggs at Winterpast Farm petting zoo in Wake Forest NC. She followed a group of farm visitors recently as Farmer Mary took them on a tour of the emu nests way in the back pasture of the ten acre farm. Happily DAISY tried one of the eggs but didn’t manage to actually take a bite! Farmer Mary will be posting a short video of DAISY and the emu egg at Winterpast Farm on FB and at winterpast_farm on Instagram.
Sleeting at Winterpast farm right now (almost 10pm) following some light rain since about 6. Farmer Mary is hoping for some pretty snow. Be watching for some interesting winter farm photos in the morning!
Assuming no one will venture forth tomorrow, but text Farmer Mary is you want to visit. The bunnies and guinea pigs are available for holding and feeding over this cold period in our new heated space and Farmer Mary will be heading out to count the eggs in the nest tomorrow. She is always happy to have company along for pasture walks, especially when we have emu eggs! Text her at 919-244-1800 after reading “your visit” at www.winterpast.org if you can get here safely.
