PEACOCK EGGS

Farmer Mary bought these seven fertile Peacock eggs (due to hatch May 10) from a breeder in Clayton this morning. This way there will be more variety of colors and DNA in the peacocks at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo.

The plan was to take the existing three eggs out of the existing peacock nest and give those to a broody hen who has been happily setting on golf balls and then to slip the seven into the nest, hoping peahens can’t count.

Well, the chicken loved setting on three big peacock eggs instead of golf balls but the white peahen said nope not my eggs so Farmer Mary just put the three eggs back and divided the seven under three broody hens. Fingers crossed! It would have been best to wait til nighttime but Farmer Mary didn’t want a chance of the new eggs cooling.
