PEACOCKS GETTING READY FOR WEDDING SEASON

Papa peacock, JUSTIN, (far left), was up on the roof of Farmer Mary’s house teaching his son how to flirt with his tail feathers. The younger male, born this past June, won’t have his really fancy long feathers til he turns 3, but he is starting to practice lifting his tail high.

Mother and sister were not very impressed, but watched as the boys showed off.
The mature peacocks will eat out of your hand…bring bread, crackers, kale and cereal when you schedule your next visit to Winterpast Farm. The males are showing off their tails most days, getting ready for mating season in the spring. The mature males, JUSTIN and JOSEPH, have regrown their molted tails and they are gorgeous to see.

In the background of this pic you can see JUSTIN spreading his tail a few days ago. And in the next, see the incredible support feathers from the back.
