VOLUNTEER AT WINTERPAST

❤️Volunteers at Winterpast Farm Petting Zoo get plenty of love. HENRY would be very happy to join you on a hammock in the deep shade after you help Farmer Mary for a while.

VOLUNTEER! Farmer Mary has many volunteering opportunities for household groups and individuals. Farmer Mary still still has one arm in a sling and could really use some help so #getoutside! Read the Volunteer Pages at www.winterpast.org.

🌞Did you know that being outdoors on sunny days is healthy for you? When your skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes vitamin D from cholesterol. The sun’s ultraviolet B (UVB) rays hit cholesterol in the skin cells, providing the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur. 🌞Vitamin D has been shown to help the body fight colds and flu, so time outdoors can help boost the immune system.

🐐Plan on washing your hands at the barn sink on arrival and when you leave (and any time you like in between).

🐑Basic feeding and watering is usually done in the morning. Great chore for families as there are many parts to the job from filling water bottles and filling feeders and adding hay.

🐢Other current chores are planting seeds and plants, getting the pond area prepared with planting and a new wooden border, cleaning cages, setting up pet rentals, checking the fence line for problems, some painting opportunities will be coming along soon, spreading mulch…

🦆Volunteering is NOT a free farm visit and please don’t think you will just sit and hold a bunny unless Farmer Mary asks you to help socialize a new one, or you are trimming nails (Farmer Mary is happy to teach you) or you are helping with rentals. If you come as a family there is work for all ages to do and members need to stick together.

🐢Volunteering IS allowed during this time or Farmer Mary wouldn’t be suggesting it.

🐖You are welcome to bring along food for the animals when you Volunteer.

🦃 Please text Farmer Mary to set up specific times so she can spread her wonderful Volunteers out. While here you are expected to stay a social distance from other humans.

❤️Thank you for supporting a small local farm family animal rescue during this very strange time.
